A righty swinger that starts in a tall setup. Uses a back load with hands during controlled stride for timing. Downhill path to contact. Handsy swing with some strength. Ball comes off well, showing gap potential. Would be aided by leveling out path. Looks athletic and fluid on the bump. Arm is compact/clean through a high-¾ slot. Looks to have more velocity in the tank, presently running it up to 77 mph on this day. Spins an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with gradual action at 64-68 mph. Also flashed a changeup, maintaining fastball arm speed at 66-68 mph.

5-foot-9, 155 pound catching prospect did well at the event showing good footwork and intent behind his actions. He comes straight out of his stance prior to throwing in which he needs to stay low, and through the plate to generate better momentum on his throws leading to increased velocity and reduced pop-time. His arm showed average strength at 65 mph and his best pop time was 2.27. Improving footspeed can also help his abilities. While hitting, McCoy had good rotation with his hips leading to good energy at contact. His exit velocity was 78 mph. With better separation, he will create more torque and lead to great velocity at impact. That should improve as he gets older.
