Carson Mellott: OF/LHP, (2022) Tiffin Columbian, OH. 5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic frame. Advanced during batting practice, Mellott's best exit velocity was 90 mph. (65.26 mph bat speed average). (23.44 mph hand speed average). Starts in an athletic stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was above average, used a loose level swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Solid from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 82 mph; shows athletic feet, a fluid exchange, and sure hands. Had a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 76-79 mph; shows consistent command and running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 1862; Avg 1723). Had sweeping action and consistent control on his 1/7 curveball (62-65). (Max spin 1905; Avg 1813).

Threw his fastball 76-79 mph; has running action and consistent control with heavy movement. Has a 1/7 curveball (62-65) that shows sweeping action and consistent control.
Scouting Notes: After turning in one of the top overall performances on the day as a position guy Mellott showed he's interesting on the mound as well. Athletic, fluid delivery. Arm works well and he has a feel for his arsenal. Expect more velocity to come with maturity. Spun a sharper breaking ball to complement the heater.
Fastball: 74-77mph.

Breaking Ball: 63-65mph.

Changeup: 70-72mph.
Hit:One of the better rounds we saw on the day. Very efficient with an impressive combo of burst, feel and intent. Really looked the part. Tripled in game.
Power:Esy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection:Multiple Roles.
Field:Moves well in the outfield. Athletic actions with above average ball skills.
Throw:Loose arm with present jump and projects for easy velo additions down the road.
Defensive Projection:Multiple spts.
2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Southpaw with consisted fluid delivery throwing from a ¾ arm slot.
Fastball: Stays true through the zone for the most part with glove side cut action at 76mph.
Curveball: 1/7 break action with good depth. Comfortable pitch with good accuracy.
Changeup: Keeps arm speed the same with good arm side fade action at 71mph.
2/9/20 Position Player
Hit: Lefty hitter with an upright vertical stance. Simple loading sequence. Worked all sides of the field during bp.
Power: Above average exit velo of 86mph.
Offensive Projection: Multiple roles.
Field: Plays low and under control with fluid footwork.
Throw: 80mph outfield velocity.
Defensive Projection: Corner OF
Body Type: 5-foot-8, 130-pound thin, athletic frame with room to add.
Swing Mechanics: Upright stance prior to getting into his simple loading sequence. Incorporates a back load during controlled stride for timing.
Hit: Swing really works, unlocking well from the ground up with an efficient path through the zone. Quicker than he is strong presently. Sprayed it all over the yard in BP.
Power: 83 mph off the bat in BP. Line drive swinger.
Offensive Projection: Table Setter.
Field: Plays with an uptempo pace in the outfield. Good athlete who gets too and through in a timely fashion. Hands work well out there.
Throw: Loose arm that projects for more strength.
Defensive Projection: CF/LF.
