Garrett Smith: OF/2B, (2023) Upper Arlington High School, OH. 6-foot-1, 155-pound. At the plate, Smith's best exit velocity was 86 mph. (64.8 mph bat speed average). (19.4 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced tall stance with a compact load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, uses an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 67 mph. Solid recorded an outfield position velocity of 73 mph; had a natural exchange, firm hands, and consistent footwork. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.27. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Hit: After a standout performance on the mound he also showed well at the plate. Aggressive swinging lefty with a physical bat. Pull side approach. Some of the louder jump we saw on the day with a top exit velocity of 82mph. High follow, two-way talent.
Power: Easy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Field: Corner frame/skills set. plays low with an uptempo pace over there. Ball skills are serviceable.
Throw: Ball comes out well.
Defensive Projection: Corner infield.
