Jackson Moore: RHP/OF, (2021) Newark Catholic, OH.
6-foot-5, 190-pound projectable frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in a balanced tall stance with a quick small load, then used a toe tap. Had an an inside-out swing plane and quick bat speed. Through his round he found multiple barrels. Recorded a time of 7.4 in the 60-yard dash. Projectable on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Changeup (68-69 mph), slider (69-70 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 82-85 mph. Had running action. Throws a 10/4 curveball (64-66) that has some action and decent command.
Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Simple, fluid load that leads to a mostly balanced launch. Has some minor path issues to clean up but there's obvious tools to work with. 6-foot-5 bat with above average bat speed that he creates efficiently. More pop to come as he filled out.
Power: Gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Middle ceiling.
Field: Classic corner profile. 6-foot-5 frame, serviceable ball skills and an overall efficient sequence.
Throw: Ball jumps.
Defensive Projection: Corner guy.
Scouting Notes: Very interesting arm here. 6-foot-5, 2021 out of Newark Catholic that ran it up to 84mph with a fastball that moved all over the place. Secondary stuff will need to come along but size/velocity combination will put college coaches in the stands.
Fastball: Heavy horizontal and vertical action. Not only is the velocity there but the pitch moves all over the place. His top offering.
Breaking Ball: 11/5 shaped breaking ball. Developing feel for the offering. More depth than action.
Changeup: The better of the two secondary offerings on this day. Near fastball armspeed with similar action to heater.
Pitchability: In/out throughout the bullpen.
