Jake Hertzman: RHP, (2022) Sycamore, OH. 5-foot-10, 180-pound. Solid on the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action with consistent arm speed. Feel type pitcher who uses easy effort. Balance point is tall with downhill shoulders during delivery. Lands soft with balanced finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-83 mph. Had slight running action. (Max spin 2221; Avg 2047). Threw a 11/5 curveball (67-69) with slurvey action. (Max spin 2275; Avg 2252). He shows late action on his changeup (73-75). Shows tight action on his 10/4 slider (70-71). (Max spin 2279; Avg 2198).
2/16/20 Position Player
Hit: Starts in a balanced stance from the right side. Shows a knee pinch load/timing trigger during back load to hands. Energy filled load that also creates balance. Aggressive swinger with a compact stroke. Both strength and speed are comparable tools to hands. All fields hitter.
Power: Top batting practice exit velocity was 76.2 and he reached a top batting practice distance of 184 feet.
Offensive Projection: Table setter.
Field: Infielder that plays low too and through, feet show some quickness, actions are more athletic out of funnel, soft hands with serviceable ball skills.
Throw: Showed 76 mph arm strength across the infield.
Defensive Projection: 2B.
2/16/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Uptempo pace to a delivery that requires regular effort. Drop and drive load that creates obvious energy down the mound. Arm works through a near high-¾ slot.
Fastball: 75-77 mph, mostly true through the zone.
Breaking Ball: 64-65 mph, 11/5 shape, showed signs of sharpness, definite potential here.
Changeup: 65-67 mph, Maintains most of his arm speed to a pitch that has some down action to it.
