Left-handed hitting catchers at a premium and Riedel is one of the better ones left on the board in the ‘18 class. At the plate he has a short, compact swing with impressive pop for frame. The ball jumps when he finds the barrel and his contact is louder than exit velocity would suggest. Riedel draws some comparison to Moeller’s Tyler McDonough when watching him swing from a tools standpoint. Behind the dish he brings above average athleticism to the position. Feet and transfer skills are very quick. Limited viewing in game back there but he has shown an above average skill set when it comes to receiving/blocking abilities.

At the plate the lefty showed impressive bat speed on a slightly uphill path. Swings with intent showing easy gap pop. Produces consistent ball flight. Swing has obvious twitch to it. Impressive bat whose tools translate to the next level. Behind the plate he starts in a lower crouch. Gets out his stance well. A very good athlete with impressive catch and throw skills. Should be a high follow moving forward for colleges looking for catchers.

5-foot-10, 158-pound athletic frame. Talented 2018 catching prospect. Has a ton more batspeed through the zone than his 80 mph exit velocity would indicate. Bat looks electric through the zone as he takes a slightly uphill path to the ball. Showed gap to gap pop at this stage with signs of future power potential. Can really swing it. Ran a 4.75 from home to first. Behind the plate all the tools are above average and he is a really rough kid behind the plate. Pop times ranged from 1.98-2.08, and threw with 74 mph arm strength to second base.
