RHP/SS, (2023) Canal Winchester, OH. 6-foot, 190-pound solid build. Solid on the mound, showing consistent arm speed he had a high ¾ arm angle and a loose compact arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses some effort. Sat with his fastball at 84-86 mph; has a straight fastball that showed glove side control and slight running action. (Max spin 2002; Avg 1736). His tight curveball (67-70) has slurvey action. (Max spin 1914; Avg 1814).

Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Downhill shoulders with a athletic balance point. Lands square with balanced finish. Sat with his fastball at 83-84 mph. Showed slight running action. (Max spin 1953; Avg 1851). His 11/5 curveball (68-69) has slurvey action. (Max spin 2163; Avg 2086). His changeup (75-76) has fading action.

Begins in an athletic open stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was efficient. In the round he found some barrels. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 78 mph; had a fluid exchange, soft hands, and consistent footwork. Recorded a time of 8.12 in the 60-yard dash. Solid on the mound, has good arm speed with a ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and shows some effort. Has an athletic balance point. Curveball (64-67 mph), changeup (72-74 mph).Threw his fastball 82-85 mph.
Joey Helms: RHP/SS, (2023) Canal Winchester, OH. 5-foot-11, 175-pound. Above average on the mound, has a ¾ arm angle and good arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses decent effort. Showed in line shoulders. Changeup (71-73 mph), slider (64-65 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 80-84 mph. Threw his 11/5 curveball (66-67) with consistent control.
Scouting Notes: Physical presence on the mound. Arm works well/ball comes out. Above average strength for class with fastball sitting in the low 80s. Spins an 11/5 breaker he drops in the zone regularly.

2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Helms throws from a high ¾ arm slot. His delivery isn’t particularly dynamic. Creates a downhill plane on his pitches. Fastball: The fastball was 77-79 mph and mostly true through the zone. Curveball: His breaking ball was 60-62 mph with slurvey shape and minimal bite. Pitch shows potential but needs to be thrown with more aggressiveness. Changeup: The changeup was 69-70 mph. Pitchability: Overall average feel for his stuff but there’s definitely more projection in there. Breaking ball presently is average but shows potential to develop into a quality offering.
Body Type: 5-foot-9, 130-pound athletic frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Rolls through his delivery with athletic actions. Ball comes out without a ton of effort. High-¾ right-hander with a clean arm that should see velo gains with maturity.
Fastball: 78-80 mph. Live pitch for class. Challenges hitters with the offering that he will use to either side of the plate.
Curveball: 58-62 mph. 11/5 big breaker that has gradual action to it.
Changeup: 66-67 mph. Loses a bit of arm speed on the pitch. Stuff wise it plays, showing late run/dive to it.
Pitchability: Ton of feel for the fastball with flashes of tossing the secondary stuff in the zone.
Additional Comments: Good size with a live fastball and more strength to come.

5-foot-6, 130 pounds with an athletic frame on the mound. The right handed pitcher throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action. Uses some effort in delivery. Displays a solid three-pitch mix. Fastball displays quickness out of hand and creates some significant arm-side run at 65-68 mph. Breaking ball features gradual 10/4 movement while sitting 52-53 mph. Changeup is deceptive as he uses fastball arm speed, and the pitch sits 57-60 mph.
