John Freeman: OF, (2022) Elyria, OH. 6-foot-2, 190-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 89 mph. (62.31 mph bat speed average). (22.39 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, shows a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Recorded a time of 7.38 in the 60-yard dash. .
6-foot-2, 180-pound athletic, projectable body frame. In the outfield he has fluid footwork with athletic actions to go along with present arm strength. Throws with a clean arm action through a high ¾ slot at 73 mph. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery, using a high leg kick to initiate his lower half and lands in a straight line at foot strike. Throws with average arm speed through an upper ¾ slot. Fastball was between 72-74 mph and topped at 75 mph. Curveball is close to being on a 12/6 plane with good depth to it at 62-68 mph. Slider has good shape with sinking action at 66-69 mph. Mixed in a changeup using fastball arm speed. Right-handed hitter hits from an athletic stance. Showed present strength in swing with more to come as he continues to physically mature. Swings with a mostly level bat path through the zone finishing with a one-handed follow through. Showed the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field during his round of batting practice reaching an exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash.
