6-foot-1, 255-pound strong frame. Josh started out the day by setting a PBR Ohio record with an 105 mph exit velocity. The strength and bat speed is obvious through the zone and translates into game action. The ball just looks different coming off his bat. What’s surprising is he is relatively simple mechanically and remains fluid while generating so much force into the baseball. There may not be such thing as a low effort 105 mph exit velocity but if there is Powell has it. In the game he punished a few balls including a backside double and a line drive to deep left field. With his elite tools at the plate he would be a solid, late addition to any college roster. Has room for improvement at first base. The athleticism is there but could be more efficient with footwork. Glove skills are still developing.

6-foot-1, 255-pound strong frame. Josh is a big, strong kid with a ton of batspeed and a ton of upside at the plate. Registered an event high 104 mph exit velocity. He is able to maintain fluidity and rhythm through his swing sequence as he initiates his lower half with a knee pinch load .Hands stay loose before getting the bat through the zone on a slightly downhill path. Ball looks different coming off his bat when he found the barrel in batting practice. For his size and aggressiveness there isn’t much swing and miss to him. Once he learns to flatten out his swing the power will come. Ran a 7.5 60-yard dash. Really agile for his bigger frame. Footwork still has room for improvement. Arm works for the position. Top velocity of 76 mph across the infield.. Ability there to play the power hitting first baseman role.
