Kaiden Smith: LHP/1B, (2022) Clinton-Massie, OH. 6-foot-4, 245-pound. At the plate, Smith recorded an exit velocity of 90 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick. Had a loose uphill swing plane, above average bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was registered at 68 mph; had a natural exchange, soft hands, and consistent footwork. Had a high ¾ slot and consistent accuracy to the base. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle with a longer arm action while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed downhill shoulders. Produced a fastball that came in at 72-74 mph. Had slight action. Shows gradual action on his 1/7 curveball (61-63). His changeup (67-68) shows fading action.
6-foot-4, 210-pound sturdy frame. From first base he has fluid, efficient footwork and showed the ability to move well off the bag laterally to cover a good amount of ground. Throws with a clean arm action through a high ¾ slot reaching a velocity of 66 mph across the infield. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery landing in a straight line at foot strike finishing with his momentum carrying in good direction toward home plate. Has average arm speed through an upper ¾ slot. He is in the strike zone with a three-pitch mix. Fastball is mostly true through the zone ranging between 64-68 mph. Curveball has a 1/7 shape with good depth and mostly gradual break at 57-58 mph. Changeup is deceptive throwing it with good arm speed at 62-65 mph. Left-handed hitter showed strength in his swing during his round of BP. Starts from an open stance using a leg kick to initiate his loading sequence landing back to even at foot strike. Has a short, fluid load with his hands moving to his back shoulder, reaching an exit velocity of 85 mph. Ran a 9.40 60-yard dash.
