Athletic, 6-foot-4, 190-pound projectable body frame. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery utilizing a vertical leg lift landing in a straight line at foot strike finishing with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Has quick arm speed coming from a lower ¾ slot. Offers a good three-pitch mix with good control of all three. Fastball is mostly true through the zone ranging from 82-84 mph and topped out at 86 mph. Curveball has signs of being sharp at times and projects well with an 11/5 shape between 68-70 mph. Changeup is an above average pitch especially for his age, it’s deceptive and has sinking action at 75-76 mph. Young, righty to keep a close eye on.
2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Copenhaver shows a controlled leg lift with a quick tempo down the mound once he reaches peak leg lift. He throws from a low ¾ arm slot and uses his long levers well.
Fastball: The fastball was 80-82 mph with some arm side life at times.
Curveball: His breaking ball was 65-69 mph with slurvey shape and decent bite.
Changeup: The changeup was 71-74 mph.
Pitchability: Good feel for his three pitch mix. Breaking ball worked well with his natural arm slot and created good deception.
2/9/20 Position Player
Hit: At the plate he starts in a balanced setup and uses a simple weight shift for his load. Has a bit of an armbar that causes him to cast his barrel around the zone.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: Lots of physical projection but still needs some skill refinement. Still remains to show some legit power upside.
Field: At 3B he plays through the ball well and shows good hands and solid footwork. Shows a quick arm.
Throw: 82 mph across the diamond.
Defensive Projection: As he develops physically he should be able to gain the arm strength to stick at 3B.
