1/20/20 Position Player
Hit: Open setup with a fluid loading sequence that gets him squared back up. Level stroke that runs into contact often. A bit more physical than he is fast at this stage but very early on in his development. Worked both sides of the field in BP.
Power: Line drive pop presently with potential for much more.
Offensive Projection: Run producer upside.
Top Rapsodo BP Exit Velocity: 82
Top Rapsodo BP Distance: 287
Field: Fluid, rangy defender that maintains rhythm/tempo throughout sequence. Ball skills appear to be more than serviceable.
Throw: Loose whippy arm.
Defensive Projection: TBD.
1/20/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Projectable frame/long lever type. Moves well/everything comes together well considering length and how young he is. Arm works well through a high-3/4 slot. Not near his velo ceiling yet, expect much more to come.
Fastball: Mostly true. Easy velocity. 71-74 mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1700-1900
Curveball: 11/5, spun a few well, especially when he stayed on top of it. 61-64 mph.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1800-2000
Changeup: Similar look to fastball out of the hand. Mostly true.
Pitchability: Strike thrower for the most part.
1/21/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-9 140-pound projectable frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a low ¾ arm slot and creates a little bit of a crossfire action by slighting throwing across his body. This creates some quality deception, particularly against right handed hitters.
Fastball: 63-66 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone.
Curveball: 58-59 mph breaking ball showed a slurvey type shape with decent spin. Could improve the pitch by increasing arm speed.
Changeup: 59-60 mph changeup was pretty true through the zone with minimal action.
Pitchability: Solid feel for a 3 pitch mix for a 2023 grad. Breaking ball shows potential to improve and the changeup is still in the early stages of development.
Role: Presently more of a bullpen type, but still lots of room for growth both physically and with regards to skill.
