3B/RHP, (2023) Lake Catholic, OH. 6-foot-3, 175-pound lengthy athletic build. Solid on the mound, used low ¾ arm angle and a quick loose arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Shows downhill shoulders. Produced a fastball that came in at 80-85 mph; shows slight running action with tight movement. (Max spin 2220; Avg 2037). Throws a 12/6 sharp curveball (71-74) that has sweeping action. (Max spin 1896; Avg 1813). Shows fading action on his tight changeup (72-73). He has a sharp slider (71-76). (Max spin 1919; Avg 1606).
Zach Madan: 3B/RHP, (2023) Lake Catholic, OH. 6-foot-3, 175-pound. In the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 91 mph. (66.8 mph bat speed average). (18.8 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced tall stance with a quick load, then used a leg kick controlled. Has quick bat speed, upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 85 mph; has quick feet, a clean exchange, and consistent hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.23. On the mound, showed some arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tilt-and-topple type pitcher and shows easy effort. Sat with his fastball at 82-85 mph. Shows slight running action. Shows some action on his 11/5 curveball (68-69). His changeup (73-73) had fading action. His 10/4 slider (70-73) had tight action.
Zach Madan: 1B/RHP, (2023) Lake Catholic, OH. 6-foot-2, 165-pound lanky frame. Solid during batting practice, Madan displayed an exit velocity of 90 mph, Ranks #1 with EV at the event. Starts in an open stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a toe tap. Bat speed is quick and shows a simple swing plane. Barreled up some balls throughout the round. Line drive approach. Athletic while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 77 mph; showed athletic feet, a natural fluid exchange, and sure hands. Athletic his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 82 mph; shows quick choppy feet, consistent hands, and a natural fluid exchange. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.44. Projectable on the mound, using a short arm action he showed some arm speed from a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Athletic balance point. Lands square. Curveball (66-68 mph), changeup (69-72 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 77-80 mph.
2/16/20 Position Player
Hit: Swings it from the right side, slightly open setup that squared back up through a toe turn timing trigger, back load to hands prior to accelerating the barrel through the zone on a slightly downhill path, quicker than he is strong but tools should even out as he adds strength to very projectable frame. Line drive ball flight.
Power: 75 mph tee exit velocity, much more to come, projects for at least gap abilities down the road.
Offensive Projection: TBD, much more physical maturation to come.
Field: Worked out at third base, cuts down distance off the bat, plays with consistent rhythm, ball skills are on par for class.
Throw: 71 mph arm strength across the infield, ¾ release with intent.
Defensive Projection: Corner guy.
2/16/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Uses an easy tempo on the mound to a delivery that requires some effort, arm has some looseness through a ¾ slot, upright leg lift into drop and drive load down the mound, lands mostly online.
Fastball: 67-70 mph, regular life to both sides of the plate, more velo in the tank.
Breaking Ball: 57-61 mph, spins it well, good sell/arm speed, 10/4 shape.
Changeup: 60-61 mph, regular fading action through the zone.
