9/9/17 - Liem, the 2018 grad showed some versatility and improved actions and numbers, working out in the outfield and at first base. The arm plays and had a top velocity of 83 mph from the outfield and was online with accuracy, adequate defender at first with feel for the glove. At the plate, right-handed hitter, exit velo improved to 84 mph, up 11 mph from February. Works to get flat and on plane, like the approach and feel for swing, creates rhythm in lower half with rock back to load and separation, line drive, gap type guy with ability to barrel up the ball. Strength gains remain, uncommitted senior with feel and knowledge for the game.

2018 grad with frame at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds with room to fill out and add size. Ran a 7.51 lasered time 60. Defensively, moves well behind the plate, agile lower half, feet work well, gains ground and shows body control, transfers were clean, receives with soft hands and athletic setup, best pop time was 2.10 and velocity out the crouch was 70 mph. At the plate, hits from right side, quiet setup, turns the barrel over and gets whip through the zone with looseness in hands. Was able to barrel up balls to back of cage, added strength will play major role for Liem in all facets of the game, strong fundamentals to work with for the 2018 catcher.
