Velocity has increased and now touching 87 while working 84-86. Still shows the pitchability and three pitches that produce weak contact. Giorno has taken the next step by adding more consistent velocity to fastball. Right-handed arm who pitches and fills the zone.
10.23.16
Giorno, now listed at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds, has improved numbers and pitchability over the summer, as his fastball now works between 80-83 mph with tailing action, stays within himself, worked down in zone and repeats delivery well. Curveball was 66-68 mph with downward action, solid pitch when he stays through it. Changeup is a useable pitch at 74 mph, a little firm at times but maintains arm speed and can keep hitters off balance. Solid competitor with pitching know-how, as he matures and gains strength, velocity will come and Giorno will be a three pitch guy who can pound the zone and get outs.
9.19.15
Young 2018 grad with small toe turn to stride at the plate. Bat path works uphill, stayed middle of the field during hitting session, exit velocity was 73 mph. Small load with hands, transfers weight to contact. From the outfield was 78 mph, arm was long and loose with accuracy, actions worked. Off the mound, Giorno sat 75-77 mph with clean arm from 3/4 slot. Curveball was 63 mph with proper spin and rotation, threw for strikes. Changeup was 70 mph and kept ball down in zone. Threw strikes, delivery was minimal effort, tools to work with on the young 2018 grad.
