Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying low during receiving. Hands are soft while standing up during transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. 2.03-2.08 pop times. C - 73 MPH.
Evin had himself an impressive week behind the dish. Advanced ability to block pitches in the dirt and throw out runners trying to snag the extra base. Showcased high IQ and leadership manning the plate, consistently communicating and positioning players for situational plays. When he is on the offensive side of the game, looks comfortable in the box with a simplistic approach. Slight leg lift in his load that translates to explosive hip engagement and hand speed.
OReilly visually stands out on the field. A projectable 6-foot-6, 204-pound frame that has athletic movements. Has a feel for blocking pitches in the dirt, keeping the shoulders square and the ball in front of him. In return he was throwing out multiple batters trying to swipe a bag, and preventing base runners from advancing on wild pitches. In the box he has a simple approach, minimal movement in his lower half that shows some plate discipline, creating quality at bats. Hit multiple baseballs hard today despite not finding any holes.
