Chopping-Lawlor, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound catcher is a physical presence with his size and strength. At the plate, it’s a slight leg lift with a hand load before driving forward and letting the raw pop play. When he square’s the ball up it’s usually to the opposite field as it’s more of a linear style of hitting. In order for Chopping-Lawlor to have more success to all fields, he could benefit from improving his rotation before the point of contact. Behind the plate, Chopping-Lawlor hovers just below 70 mph on throws to second, the arm works comfortably from the 3/4 arm slot and he is decently accurate on throws. Chopping-Lawlor has a chance to be a productive bat behind the plate at the right school.
