2021 grad, 6-foot-1, 200-pound catcher, Cossitt was an attendee of the New Year Open. Left-handed hitter, relaxed set-up, looks to get underneath and drive the ball to the pull-side, and has a chance to do damage when he gets out front. Behind the plate, he worked in the 2.18-2.33 range, was up to 66 out of the crouch. Cossitt has some upside, and is a name to keep tabs on.
Young 2020, left-handed hitting catcher with present strength and size for age at 5-foot-11, 191-pounds. At the plate, Cossitt hits from an upright, slightly open stance, his hands start high and uses a quick leg kick to get to launch position. Hands work through the zone and creates torque in hips, worked more to pull side with high finish, driving the ball to the right side gap. At times can create some length to swing, had an exit velocity of 79 mph off the tee, there is some feel for the barrel and chance for more power to come in the future. Defensively, loses his lower half on throws to second, doesn’t allow his arm enough time to separate and get on top of his throws, gets caught pushing the ball. With his abilities with the bat, Cossitt will look to tune up his defensive side, with time being on the left-handed hitters side to do just that.
