Uncommitted ‘26 RHP Keegan Russell was another efficient arm for Team Ontario as he punched out three in his first one-inning outing of the week against a strong BC lineup. His second appearance saw him go six innings against Nova Scotia allowing just one run (0 ER) on two hits, two walks and struck out seven. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound right-hander was difficult to square up all week long with the fastball sitting 85-87mph. Good summer for Russell who’s really put himself on the map and will be on the scene for several years to come.
Russell, 6-foot-5, 235lbs, immediately stands out on the mound and at the dish. Didn’t have his best stuff in his start, but there's lots to like with the XL frame and his mid 80’s FB that has been up to 88.1 mph. At the dish, it was a good piece of hitting in Game 2 taking a FB the other way for a single down in the count. Russell looks the part as one of the more physical 2-ways in the 2025 class.
Another big, strong right-hander from the event who was tied for the top fastball velocity at the event (87.6mph). Towering frame at 6-foot-5, 235-pounds and the fastball sat 86-87mph with 97% spin efficiency and filled up the zone with the pitch. Shorter, quick arm-action and worked with a slider at 70-72mph and changeup at 76-78mph. Velocity looks to come easy on the mound with the size and the development of the offspeed stuff will be what takes him to the next level. Also swung the bat from the left-side and generated a peak exit velocity of 91mph.
