The 6-foot, 160-pound two-way put together an overall productive day at our event. Abe is one of the better players out of the Astros program that displayed a short-compact operation in the box. Starts with a wide stance, keeps the hands quiet, and stayed on the barrel often in his rounds. Produced a maximum exit velocity of 91.1 mph and a peak distance of 349 feet. Flashes feel for his position with good hands and footwork. He is one of the better prospects in the ‘26 class and should continue to trend in the right direction as the body matures.
2027 INF/RHP Ko Abe put together a strong showing at Connorvale Park. At the plate, Ko creates elevation with his swing and lives to his pull side and up the middle. Posted a max EV of 88.2mph. On the bump, he features a 2-pitch mix of a FB and CB, with the CB showing a top-to-bottom look to it. In the infield, works through the ball well and utilizes clean footwork. At 6-foot, 150-pounds, with tools that project, there is a ton of upside in his game. A standout at JFG’s this summer, Ko is a 2027 grad that will be an intriguing follow with added strength gains
2026 Ko Abe was one of the more highly-anticipated prospects at the event after being selected to the PBR Canada Spring Training ‘Third-Team All- Tournament’ squad earlier this month. A wiry 6-foot, 140-pound frame with a whippy arm action that sits 78mph with the fastball, complimented well with a vertical, top-to-bottom breaking ball. Advanced footwork left-to-right on the infield with the ability to stay balanced throughout his motions. Abe has a smooth bat path in his swing with the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields, peaking in exit velocity at 83.9mph.
The young right-handed hitter is a lean 6-foot, 140-pound body who had himself a solid day down here in Cocoa. Displaying an ability to keep his hands back and finding the barrel during his contact. On the defensive end, Ko had clean footwork with the ability to display strong baseball intelligence during relays and situational plays. A player we are looking forward to see on the mound later this week as well, after a strong appearance last fall at the Ontario Prospects Scout Day.
Abe, 5-foot-11 130-pounds, was a name to look out for all day long. In the field the footwork was clean, stayed low and compact with quick transfer out of the glove. In the batter box the bat was compact, kept the hands above the baseball working up the middle. Looked comfortable on the mound, flashed a 3-pitch mix with good feel for all his pitches.
