2025 OF Mylo Pereira made a good impression with the right-handed bat this past week and has made big improvements since we saw him last summer at the New York State Games. Strength at the plate at 5-foot-11, 210-pounds and he’s consistently on-time, looking to use the middle of the field and hit the gaps. There’s bat speed and creates good leverage with the lower-half. The bat looks to be the carrying tool right now and he had it on full display in Cocoa.
Physical: 5-foot-11, 210 pounds; Broad shouldered, sturdy build. 7.8 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet narrow; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with a finish around the back. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 94 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep hop while being aggressive. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 75 MPH
Pereira, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound infielder was one of the standouts in the field and in the box early on in the day. In the field the feet moved well side to side, had some carry on his throws across the diamond. At the plate the swing was twitchy with lots of loud barrels to the gaps. Had one of the top Exit Velos on the day at 94mph. The size stands out at the corner with a wide athletic frame. Lots of upside in the uncommitted 2024 that continues to impress.
