Kaczmarek put together a quality two days in Cortland, flashing upside on both sides of the ball. His physicality jumps out at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds and the two-way drew plenty of attention as an aggressive right-handed hitter with bat speed. The Team Ontario product put together quality at-bats on Tuesday, including an impressive two-run homer to the pull side and is a dangerous stick when he gets extended. Looks the part at the hot corner with his frame, actions and arm strength. He took the mound in game two and was efficient over four innings. Kaczmarek continues to add strength, and will be a 2025 to keep tabs on as he matures.
Physical: 6-3, 200 pounds; Sturdy, long build. 7.22 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Lifts hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a direct swing path with a two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep step while utilizing a quick first step. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Long arm swing from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 81 MPH.
Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using an angled drop step. Belt high leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while showing some scap load; high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 84 MPH, while sitting 81-83 MPH; commands both sides. CB: 68-71 MPH; showed depth.
Kaczmarek (6-foot-2, 195-pounds) had his present strength on display at the New Year Open. On the mound the arm action was whippy with a ¾ arm slot. He lived low in the zone throughout his bullpen with quick, efficient movements down the mound. In the infield the actions were clean with arm strength on his throws across the field. In the box the swing was aggressive from the right-side with loud contact and bat control. Strong showing for the uncommitted 2025.
Kaczmarek was one of the most intriguing '25s we saw in Oshawa on Sunday starting with his size and maturity. His actions immediately stood out at third base and was 65 across the diamond. The 6-foot, 168-pounder has a pull-oriented swing from the right side and had some of the hardest contact on the day, including the hardest exit velocity in his class (82 mph). One of the young players in this organization we look forward to following this upcoming summer.
A young 2025 grad, there was strong intent in BP from Kaczmarek and he was not scared or out of place on this day. He looked the part and the actions and fundamentals suggest he’ll be somebody we need to remember moving forward as time is definitely on the young mans side as a 2025.
