McGivney, standing at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, was one of the better arms we saw on Day Two of Spring Training. He sat comfortably 81-83 mph (T85). Has a quick arm, out of a low ¾ slot with an easy, repeatable delivery. Flashed a breaking ball, a slider with some sweep to it, and it plays well off his fastball coming out of a similar arm slot. When filling up the zone, it’s tough for hitters to barrel him up.
McGivney, 5-foot-10 165-pounds, had one of the more impressive days in Ajax, ON. Has taken big strides since we last saw him. Behind the plate McGivney showed quick transfer out the glove, arm was accurate with a short action. At the plate the bat was level, lived mostly pull side with feel for the barrel. On the mound the arm was long and loose, flashed a few nasty sliders and a fastball that topped 84.
2024 Ryan McGivney has a toe-tap into his load and the hands are strong through the zone from the 5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter. The Whitby Chiefs product was able to hit to all fields and his overall game will continue to grow as he continues to add strength and fill out.
