2023 Tyler Wingfield (Leaside) was another senior outfielder to show well. His actions and energy standout immediately and his arm worked up to 83mph with carry and accuracy. Small frame at 5-foot-10, 152-pounds but he creates a quick left-handed bat through the zone and showed some more muscle through his round last night than we’ve previously seen. Top exit velocity of 87mph. Wingfield has definitely added strength over the year and it’s showing in all areas of his game.
Physical: 5-foot-10, 152 pounds; Slender, proportional build. 7.4 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing a strong lower half. Showed a flat swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 84 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep step while showing active feet. Hands work through the ball with a seamless transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. OF - 78 MPH.
Uncommitted 2023 Tyler Wingfield was a standout this week from the Toronto Mets program. It’s a small frame at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds and there’s still a ton of growing left for the outfielder. The hit tool was real this week, working with a level bat path and good bat speed. He was moving well in the outfield and on the bases. On a PBR Red team that swung the bats well all week, Wingfield was a big part of that.
Wingfield had a good day at the plate with his approach going up the middle and the other way. At 5-foot-10, 150-pounds, there’s still room to add strength. He has a smooth swing from the left side and shows a nice bat path through the zone. Wingfield finished with a 80 MPH exit velo on the day. We will continue to follow Wingfield throughout the next couple of years as there’s some projectabilty in his game.
