This was our second look at Gunatilake this spring and the young two-way out of the Team Ontario Astros program continues to flash potential on either side of the ball as his 5-foot-11, 140-pound frame continues to grow and fill out. Offensively, the right-handed hitter generated a peak exit velocity of 79.8mph and Sweet Spot % of 56%. On the positional side he posted a personal-best of 74mph from the outfield and ran a 4.50 30-yard dash. The right-hander is interesting on the mound as there’s length in the frame with a fastball sitting in the 71-74mph range. The secondary stuff saw the breaking ball in the 62-63mph range (2.0” IVB/-6.6” HM) and changeup at 67-79mph (6.4” IVB/6.3” HM).

This was our first look at 2028 SS/RHP Thejan Gunatilake, a two-way prospect out of the Team Ontario Astros program. The 5-foot-11, 140-pound right-handed hitter was able to generate a peak exit velocity of 81.5mph and was up to 73mph from the shortstop position. On the mound, the right-hander sat 70-72mph, along with a curveball at 63-64mph, slider at 63-65mph and changeup at 67mph. Still plenty of maturation to come which will see his overall game and numbers trend north.
