One of the better ‘pure hitters’ in the ‘22 class. Rosell continues to show an easy, low maintenance swing with natural feel for finding the barrel. With a stronger upper half, Rosell made jumps across the board with higher peak exit velo, average exit velo and higher bat speed than what we saw last summer. In the box, uses a wide, balanced set-up with a subtle scap load to create some stretch into landing. Rotates well thru his core and holds finish thru contact. Went 2-4 in game play while handling duties at multiple INF positions
6-foot, 185 with a mature frame and developed strength throughout his build. Strong frame to his lower half. Rosell took some eye-opening swings during batting practice, and his left-handed stroke was one of the sweeter offerings on the day. Gains ground with his forward move while working into contact. Showed the ability to get his barrel on plane early and cover depth in the zone. Uses his quick hands and strong wrists to drive the ball to the pull side with obvious bat speed. Working slightly uphill through the zone, the power projection to the pull side appears likely to come as he continues adding strength, and he posted a 90 mph exit velocity. Defensively, there is a chance he can continue at second or third base in the future, but the bat is going to be what helps carry him moving forward, so a shift to a corner outfield spot is a potential fit as well. The defensive actions are consistent and repeatable. Moving with deliberate tempo while showing control of a soft glove hand. Used a glove-tap exchange before getting into a full arm swing and 3/4 release on his throws. Overall, shows intriguing offensive potential from the left side and should be a reliable defender.
