One of the fastest athletes we’ve seen on the diamond in the state, Erickson created constant pressure on the defense with his disciplined, contact approach. Recorded times of 4.02 and 4.06 down the line on balls put in play. In BP, he worked mostly middle and backside while focusing on keeping the barrel inside of the ball. There’s quickness in the barrel and he’s strong at the point of contact. Defensively he can cover ground easily in the OF with terrific closing speed. The arm strength will continue to develop and play a key factor in finding him his permanent home on defense. Expect Erickson to be a consistent run scoring threat for what should be a potent Clackamas offense in 2022
Wiry, athletic build on 5-foot-9, 150 pound frame. Wide set-up in the box with lower half aligned to pitcher. Upper half shows slight inward turn to begin. Shifts weight onto backside with a knee knock type load. Short scap load before rotating into swing. Creates some easy bat speed with a level barrel path into contact and lofted finish. Very few moving parts in swing, which allows the barrel to work easily. Stays balanced throughout. Moves well in the OF where his above average speed should allow him to be a consistent defender. Long, easy strides as he ranges to the ball. Shows quick start and stop ability. Uses an inside shuffle step to get momentum into throwing motion. Shorter arm path with a ¾ release point.
