Displayed the ability to stay behind the baseball with solid feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Showcased advanced receiving, blocking and throwing skills behind the plate. Registered pop times of 2.05-2.13 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch with very quick, clean feet. Exceptional student has already scored 35 (ACT) and 1530 (SAT) with two years of high school remaining.

Although his hands sometimes create some length, he demonstrated feel for all fields during batting practice notching a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. The catcher showcased adequate transfers on accurate throws of 73 mph from the crouch. Recorded pop times of 2.18-2.22 during defensive evaluations. Improved receiving and blocking will help turn Whinney into a complete, well-rounded catcher. Registered a 7.78 60-yard dash. Right-handed pitcher uses a tall body-position to deliver 77-79 mph fastballs from a high 3/4 arm-slot. 67-69 mph curveballs featured 11/5 break. Commanded 70-71 mph changeups that displayed solid arm-speed.
