Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-8, 165lb frame with room to continue filling out. 7.47 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wide, slightly lower beginning with the hands starting higher above the shoulder; utilized a short lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher allowing for launch through a flat path into the hitting zone. Low-effort, rotational approach finding success from line to line during his batting practice round. Posted an 81 mph best bat-exit velocity via Trackman with a 50% line drive rate, pointing towards solid bat to ball skills and the possibility to hit for AVG down the road.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured a moderate-postured, traditional setup in the crouch with a soft glove hand that could stick with subtle movements. Pop times ranged from 2.05-2.15 using quick hands/exchanges to the ear and releasing from a shorter H ¾ slot (73 mph arm, accurate on the bag). Then showed off compact blocking techniques with down angles, adding to the defensive profile.
Physical: 5’8 165 lb C/3B ran a 7.74 laser timed 60-yard dash. Still has a young frame with strides that can be made to clean up movements and output.
Offensively: Stays tight with his hands and has an efficient movement to the ball. Drives the ball well through the middle of the field without losing control of his body.
Defensively: Receives from one knee down set up and has clean glove movement into receiving the pitch. The catch and throw has a slight delay before the ball is released. Can improve time with more fluid movement with the catch and release. Has a similar type of movement at 3B. Gets his body in front of the ball, secures the catch, and makes a throw across the infield.
1.20.18 - Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with no stride. Showcased a flat barrel path through the hitting zone and a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 62 mph. Young backstop displayed developing defensive skills with 56 mph arm strength out of the crouch and pop times of 2.87-2.98. Also displayed developing defensive skills at third base with accurate 57 mph arm strength across the diamond.
