Physical: Projectable, upside 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame. 7.31 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Taller, shoulder-width stance, as the hands work on top of the elbows. Utilized a simple lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing through a fast, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Matched plane consistently for backspin off the bat towards the pull-side gap. Recorded a T86MPH EV and a loud performance in-game with more hits than we could count.
Defensively: The third baseman featured a direct approach to the ball out of a regular posture. Able to exchange naturally with momentum at 81MPH across the INF. Showed a glove-tap for rhythm and handled the slow roller.
Pitching: RHP. Low-pulse delivery from a shallow leg-lift that extends down the mound. Pitched into the mid-80’s for strikes, up to T86MPH and added a 68-69MPH CB with steep angle. Saw plenty of whiffs during his (2) relief IP. More velo to come.
6/20/23
Physical: 6-2, 180 pounds; Long, sturdy build. 7.54 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a compact swing path with a two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 85 MPH via Trackman. Consistent barrel path with good rotational acceleration. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 75 MPH. Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a short stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while arm stays in line with 2B; standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 84 MPH, while sitting 80-83 MPH; plays up in the zone. CB: 67-69 MPH; spots and expands. OTHER: Smooth delivery while the arm explodes through rotation. Consistently works down in the zone.
7/26/22
Physical: Taller 6-foot-1, 170lb frame with leverage available. 7.62 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Narrow, upright stance, as the hands start just outside the shoulder. Utilized a leg-lift stride to initiate the swing through a flat, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone with separation present. Stayed on the rear-hip during the turn, getting the arms out over the plate for a pull-side approach. Recorded a T84 mph exit velocity, which will continue trending higher as he fills out.
Defensively: The third baseman featured timed up footwork and longer strides at the hot corner, settling down with an even base at the touch. Average pace across the diamond with taller posture on the throw, up to 73 mph from a whippy H ¾ slot. Found some success on the mound later.
6/21/22
Physical: Taller, lean 6-foot-1, 160lb build with projection. 7.50 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Upright, narrow stance, as the hands operated by the shoulder to begin. Utilized a leg-lift stride to initiate the swing through a sweeping, uphill path into the hitting zone. Some lift at times, producing a lofty approach to the middle of the field. Recorded a T84 mph exit velocity via Trackman that did well on pitches out in space.
Defensively: The third baseman featured soft hands and average pace at the hot corner, tapping the glove once on the shuffle before delivering an accurate throw across the dirt (71 mph, H ¾ slot).
Pitching: RHP. Starts off the left side of the rubber; hip coil at the top of the stack and unwinds into footstrike. Full arm-action working east to west from 75-79 mph (heavy run). Mixed a lateral 63-65 mph CB with bite across the plate. Mound presence.
