Physical: 6-foot-2, 190LBS. 8.42SEC 60-Yard Dash.
Offensively: Begins slightly wider that shoulder width. Hands start above and out from shoulder and go down and back during the load. Barrel path is flat through the hitting zone with a high finish. Hits into a firm front side.
Defensively: Behind the plate shows some feel for the pocket. Hops into secondary stance and looks to have weight in the heels. Lets ball travel close to chest during the catch and throw. On receive starts the arm circle while transferring to hand. Falls to the baseball during the block in order to catch the baseball in the lower portion of the chest protector.
Showcased feel for an advanced, physical 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame with strength in his frame. The right-handed hitter begins with a crouched, even stance utilizing a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Timing hitter with launch coming quickly after foot-strike allowing for a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone with barrel whip. Hit into a tall and stiff front side with occasional weight shift yielding an 83 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice. Ran a 4.87 home-to-first. The primary backstop featured adequate receiving skills with minimal body and glove movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.03-2.15 on accurate throws of 71 mph from the crouch out of a quick, high ¾ arm-slot. Demonstrated the usage of quick transfers and repeatable straight line footwork towards the target. Flashed long actions while blocking, beating the ball to the spot with a moderately low center of gravity with recovery ability.
Offensively young, developing player, initiates swing from open set up with short step to neutral gaining little ground. There is good balance and rhythm to swing. Solid barrel feel allowed Hyde to barrel multiple balls in his round of bp. Early hand leak reduces separation ad swing path is slightly uphill.
Defensively, hands are adequate and transfer is clean. Throwing motion has length. Benefit would be gained from widening base and maintaining upper body angle in blocking.
On mound young pitcher works out of mid 3/4 arm slot repeats well with solid balance and rhythm. FB sat 67-69 with subtle arm side run. CB a 55-56 mph had 11-5 shape and rolling action. CH was commanded and sold well at 55 mph with arm side fade.
