Petzold is an athletic 5-foot-11 175 pound RHP/2B. He ran a 7.13 60 and a 4.56 home-to-1B. Offensively- Petzold starts in a slightly open and balanced stance with hands just off back shoulder. Uses a short coiled load with stride for timing. Balanced approach at the plate with and effective lower half. Swing path repeats with a compact swing into the zone along with a late, one handed finish. Line drives; center of the field approach.  Exit velocity of 82 MPH.  Defensively- Listed as a 2B; showed good actions at SS during workout. Possible 2B/3B mold or utility Infielder at the next level. Can release from various angles and make plays on the move. Serviceable arm strength to stay on the left side at 75 MPH. Occasionally upright with release, creating a delay. Pitching-  On the mound Petzold works from the glove side of the rubber with a steady build up to a center/chest; slightly coiled yet compact balance point. Arm action stays long working from a ¾ to low ¾ slot. Showed late arm whip with FB at 76-77 MPH, touching 78 MPH. Stays down and gets arm side run. Throws two different breaking pitches; CB was 60-62 with some 1-to-7 shape. Slider more impressive at 64-65 MPH; working lateral plane early from right-to-left; sharp downward bit late. Nice looking 2-plane pitch.
