2/12/17 - 5-foot-10, 170-pounder continues to develop. Exhibited a solid across-the-board defensive skill set that includes a feel for approaching the baseball to field it and continue moving his feet toward his target, as well as 86 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and takes a short stride. Rolls front shoulder and hides hands behind head a bit in his load, creating some stiffness and length in his path. Has a chance to develop gap power with a current exit velocity of 82 mph. Will need to improve foot speed (7.51 60-yard dash) and quickness to remain in the middle of the diamond long-term, but defensive abilities should translate to third base.
7/20/16 - 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter has grown an inch and put on 30 pounds of muscle over the past year. Flashed improved arm strength (84 mph) and the ability to make all plays on the left side of the infield. Displayed the ability to barrel the baseball routinely from a square stance with a short lift-and-replace stride. Simple, repeatable swing path showed improved barrel whip (84 mph bat exit). Handled elevated velocity in game play over two days while registering a 4.67 home-to-1B time.
9/13/15 - 5-foot-9, 140-pound right handed hitter who was the youngest prospect in attendance. Hit from a slightly open stance with a short, punchy stroke during which he kept his head still and minimized excess body movement. Defensively, he showed a solid glove and used his feet well to enhance his 77-mph arm strength across the diamond.
7/1/15 - 5-foot-9, 140-pounder showed well in all facets of the game. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely from a square stance with a short lift and replace stride. A short swing path creates a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Rhoads showcased a 7.65 60-yard dash and a 78 mph arm across the diamond. He also displayed an accurate 81 mph arm from the outfield. The incoming freshman showed athletic actions, a quick release and the ability to play through the baseball.
