2/23/13 Owens is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect who was nearly as impressive as Goodling. While he did not have the velocity that Goodling had, he certainly matched him in command and quality of secondary pitches. Owens sat 83-85 out of a high 3/4 arm slot with late arm side run to his fastball. His arm action is clean and his mechanics are very repeatable. Owens also commanded a solid 72 mph slider and a 73 mph changeup that is possibly his top pitch. The changeup has heavy arm side run and also shows some late downward action. Owens made a verbal commitment to attend Roanoke College in Virginia in January.
