Physical: 5-foot-11, 155 pounds; athletic, projectable frame. 6.76 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Upright, slightly open stance; short stride. aggressive with flat path to the ball finishing uphill; 11 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Matson is able to produce 22 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 64%. Hard line drives; average Trackman exit velocity of 85 MPH; peak exit velo was 92 MPH.
Defensively: Prep hop, active pre pitch; stays behind the ball well, smooth approach. fields the ball outside his glove foot, transfers during a shuffle towards his target; medium arm swing with a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 85 MPH.
Pitching: Sets up on the third base side of the rubber, repeats an up-tempo delivery. Short take back with a high 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 85MPH, 83-84 MPH. Has some life through the zone, arm side run. CB: 72-75 MPH. Tight breaking, 1-7 shape. CH: 75-77 MPH. Deceptive arm speed, late fading action.
5-foot-10, 145-pound two-way prospect has grown two inches and added 25 pound to his frame in the past year and the results are noticeable. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a quiet, lift-and-replace stride. Showcased above average balance and feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. Displayed athletic, fluid actions defensively with accurate 84 mph arm strength from the outfield. The lefty sat 80-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot with an easy, repeatable delivery. Also showed feel for a curveball with 1/7 rotation at 69-71 and a changeup at 74-76.
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed balance throughout with above average rhythm while consistently barreling baseballs to all fields with a line drive approach. Registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity while running a 6.99 60-yard dash. Two-way prospect showcased 82 mph arm strength from the outfield and sat 80-82 with a balanced, repeatable delivery on the mound. The left shows some arm speed from a high 3/4 arm slot while commanding a high spin rate curveball with 2/8 rotation at 67-70. Maintains his arm speed well on his changeup at 71-72.
5-foot-8, 120-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Showcased solid rhythm and a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 73 mph. Ran an event best 7.19 60-yard dash and flashed athletic actions in the outfield with accurate 78 mph arm strength. Left-hander sat 73-75 off the mound from a high 3/4 arm slot. Displayed a loose arm with a fluid, repeatable delivery and late life to his fastball. Curveball is thrown with solid arm speed at 62-64 with 1/7 rotation. Changeup is thrown with good sell at 64-66 with some late cut.
