Physical: Well put together frame with a medium sized build at 6-foot, 175-pounds. 7.52 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Begins from a tall, balanced stance with a slight bend in the knees as the hands start with quick, but controlled circular rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a quick lift and replace stride to initiate a handsy, flat barrel path into the hitting zone towards impact. The top hand dominated the swing with a medium/high posture throughout the movement, hit into a stiff front side while contacting the ball repeatedly out in front of the plate. Pull-side approach during batting practice with ability to work the hands towards the LCF gap on occasion, recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 90 mph according to Trackman Baseball with a 311 foot maximum distance.
Defensively: The primary third baseman featured long and methodical movements during defensive evaluations, soft glove hand with a low center of gravity, feel for lateral movements and liked playing the ball to his glove hand side. INF - 74 mph .. The outfielder showed feel for space with rangy movements getting downhill towards the baseball while fielding off of the left side of his body on the approach. Solid catch and throw skills out of a moderate, high ¾ slot with accuracy and carry towards the plate. OF - 76 mphDefensively as a catcher, very young player showed adequate glove hand in framing and receiving. Range is limited in blocking and an upright trunk angle is present. Arm strength of 62 mph resulted in POP time of 2.72.
Defensively, at third base shows understanding of proper technique in working bottom up. There is tendency to play the ball deep and footwork is work in progress. Farfan would benefit from keeping feet active in working to and through the ball while gaining ground on throws across the diamond.
Offensively, 5-foot-9 165-pound right-handed hitter initiates swing from narrow, open set up with toe tap stride to neutral. Weight shift and hip turn are present. A bat exit velocity of 72 mph was registered. Farfan as very young player will undoubtedly see gains in overall game in association with continued physical maturation.
