Physical: Lengthy, athletic and high-waisted 6-foot-1, 170lb frame. 6.98 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Scrappy, high contact bat atop the order able to give consistent at-bats. Started from a tall, even stance at shoulder-width showing slight rhythm in the hands at the shoulder; utilized a short lift and replace stride initiating the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone producing a line drive approach. Posted an 86 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball leading to a smooth-operating 57% line drive rate during his batting practice round. Found success going backside to LCF in game action and stayed on the baseball well in the approach. Went line to line and consistently squared the baseball up.
Defensively: The outfielder can patrol any one of the three outfield positions with a quick first step and rangy actions in the gaps. Accurate glove hand fielding off the inside of the right foot and working fluidly down towards the plate with a clean exchange/pace out of a high ¾ slot (85 mph arm, accurate).
Pitching: LHP - Began off the middle of the rubber with a medium side rocker into a low leg lift with pace in the delivery; maintained good rhythm down the slope and threw accurately to both sides of the plate (79-80 mph, strikes, arm-side run). Added a hard 66-68 mph SL missing barrels at a strong horizontal titl, countering with a smooth 72-74 mph CH for swing/miss and deception at release.
Physical: 6-foot-0, 160 pounds; athletic build with room for more weight. 6.99 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Upright, even base; uses a small stride for timing. above average effort with quick hands with a slightly uphill swing plane; 16 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Thompson is able to produce 13 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 71%. Hard pull side contact; average Trackman exit velocity of 79 MPH; peak exit velo was 86 MPH.
Defensively: Upright; aggressive approach of the ball. Fields the ball outside his glove foot and gets the ball out quickly; medium arm swing with an over the top slot. OF - 80 MPH.
Pitching: Sets up tall and in the middle of the rubber, glove stays at the waist throughout windup, no wasted movements. Short arm swing with a high 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 75 MPH, 71-75 MPH. Has some late sinking action. CB: 62-65 MPH. 12-6 shape.
The primary outfielder featured feel for a lean and athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The left-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a heel-raise to initiate a fluid, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Gets to extension well allowing for some natural lift to the pull-side. Hit into a tall front side using a strong top hand yielding an 81 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. The outfielder demonstrated active feet arriving to the ball on time with regularity creating downhill momentum towards the target. Recorded an accurate 83 mph arm-strength from his position out of a high ¾ arm-slot. The left-handed pitcher sat 74-77 mph out of a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway. Mixed in a 60-62 mph curveball with 1/7 action down in the zone. Countered with a 62-65 mph changeup flashing occasional arm-side run.
