Kriz is a talented 5-foot-11, 170 pound left-handed hitting catching prospect. At the plate, he showed pull side carry and an exit velocity of 86.1 MPH. The initial stance is an athletic set up with the hands set just off the back shoulder. The load is triggered by a knee slide and stacks the weight onto the back leg. As the swing begins, the weight remains over the back leg and creates lift in his swing. The finish is through contact and remains balanced throughout. He also ran a 7.72 second sixty.
Defensively, the rising senior showed good feet and solid receiving skills behind the plate. The transition to throw was balanced, with the hips getting in line with second base. The ball exchange is clean and allows the arm swing to be clean. His pop times ranged from 2.03-2.15 seconds and had a velocity of 68 MPH.
5-foot-10, 155-pound, longer, lean athletic frame, with plenty of room for added weight, shoulders are squared off and broad. A left-handed hitting catcher, showed athletic actions on both sides of the field. Behind the plate, has a quick bounce to him during transfer to the release. The setup is balanced, feet work, gaining ground, arm is super clean, working from a natural slot. The arm was clocked at 70 mph, with more in there as he adds strength, pop time of 2.09-2.22. Look for the arm strength to jump, works with easy effort. At the plate, small pick up and put down with stride foot, hands stay back, is on time on foot strike. The swing is level and smooth through the zone, working the baseball to all fields. The tee exit velocity was only at 73 mph, more there, and baseball comes off the bat. Will need to add more foot speed was a 4.78 down the line. Interesting follow.
