6-foot-1, 185-pound proportional frame. During batting practice, Fontechia clocked an exit velocity of 83 mph. Begins in a tall open stance with a controlled load, then uses a quick stride. Bat speed was quick, used uphill simple swing plane and level finish. Found a few barrels during his round. Line drive approach. Average from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 77 mph; has a clean exchange, smooth feet and sure hands. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a long arm action with a low ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.27.
