The only ’24 bat in attendance improved on all his numbers since we last saw him in January. 6’0, 170-pounder features a medium, athletic frame w/ some well-proportioned lean strength, advanced physicality for a ’24, intriguing physical projection as he continues to work to fill out his frame. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, crouched stance w/ quiet hands into shift of weight, toe tap and proper load. Lot of moving parts in load, but head remains still and was able to find a clean single in game with a hard line drive up the middle. Flashes ability to stay balanced, some extension through the zone. All fields approach w/ lot of line drives when right. Intriguing offensive skill-set for a young player. On the dirt, shows active feet w/ solid hands, flashing quick release w/ projectable carry to target arm strength w/ some effort in the throw. On the mound, the righty pitched from the stretch only into an OTT release. Clean, repeatable mechanics w/ some downhill plane. Straight FB. Tight CB flashes proper shape w/ short downer action, gets slurvy at times. Slows arm down slightly on CH w/ short fade and sink.
5-foot-10, 150-pound lean frame. At the plate, the switch hitter clocked an exit velocity of 82 mph. Started in a crouched stance, had a low load and used a toe tap to start his swing. Has a level swing plane, as well as quick bat speed and high finish. Up the middle approach. In the infield, showed his ability to throw 81 mph across the diamond; had athletic footwork, a clean exchange and sure hands. Laterally, movements were athletic. Showed a long arm action and a high ¾ slot. He clocked a time of 7.92 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, he has an over-the-top angle and a short arm action. He is a tall-and-fall type pitcher and uses some effort. Has a tall balance point and uphill shoulders. His fastball was 73-75 mph. Curveball (67-69 mph) had the most depth when he located it down by the hitter’s knees. His changeup (68-70) shows sinking action and some control.
