6’3, 185-pound, RHH is another high ceiling prospect with some size and natural athleticism that is hard to teach. Patton produced the highest exit velo of the event, generating some serious leverage through the use of his lower half and long arms. When he’s able to get extended and through the ball, he shows some real power potential and the ability to drives balls deep. Patton moves well in the outfield and continuously stays under control throughout the play. His arm action is long and loose and he should be able to add some more strength to his frame in the next couple of years. He likes to pull the ball and put together a few solid at-bats in gameplay, walking once.
6/14/17 - Max FB: 80, FB: 77-79, CB: 70-71,
6-foot-3, 185-pound, RHP has a long and lanky frame with some athleticism on the mound and plenty of room to continue improving. Patton begins slowly and only begins to build some momentum and aggression on his way to the plate. He uses a longer arm action through a high ¾ slot and finishes with an occasional and slight fall toward the 1B line. Fastball had some sink to it, as it seemed to always be coming down through the zone, and his curveball showed 12/6 to 11/5 shape around the zone.
9/25/16 - 60 Time: 7.14, Position Velocity: OF-81, Exit Velocity: 85
6-foot-2, 170-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance, uses an abbreviated leg kick with a short and quick stride with some very subtle movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half fires pretty well and helps to get his backside through the zone, stays behind the ball well but can lose a little balance at times, swing plane usually starts out a little steep and flattens out but hands showed ability to drop into a good slot and produce a flat to slightly uphill path through the zone, squared a few balls up toward the gaps in BP, should add some power soon. Defensively, showed above average hands and good footwork in the outfield, played through the ball aggressively and athletically, clean exchange led to a long arm action through a high ¾ to over-the-top slot.
9/25/16 - Max FB: 81, FB: 79-81, CB: 71-73, CH: 73-76,
6-foot-2, 170-pound, RHP is long and athletic and uses a controlled motion which keeps his upper body very still until he is ready to attack the plate, leg lift is high but seems simple because of his length and balance, gets pretty well loaded at the top and showed some shoulder tilt during the separation of his hands, very tall at the top, stride to the plate stays in line and only finishes slightly toward 1B, long and pretty loose arm action comes through a high ¾ slot. Fastball stayed mostly straight, curveball had late and affective 11/5 shape, changeup was mostly a change of pace.
