Matthew Schroeffel (‘26, Bearden) The sophomore has hit his way into the top part of Bearden's lineup as a sophomore. At 6’2 and 207 pounds he brings a very physical frame that already produces some impressive metrics. He has been 89 across the diamond (which he showed off several times on Monday against Hardin Valley) 87 off of the mound, with 75 mph bat speed. He has an advanced approach at the plate, going the other way with authority easily. Look for him to develop a power stroke going forward as he develops further. A great hitter already that is sure to continue to improve.
Matthew Schroeffel (2026, Bearden) The 2026 3B/RHP had himself an impressive outing Tuesday against Farragut. The 6-2 207 lbs infielder was previously seen by our staff at the Preseason All State event in february in which he had impressive performances both at the plate and on the mound. He shows great upside on the mound getting up to 85, paired with 2 plus offspeed offerings. Has more velo in the tank as he has also been up to 89 across the infield. However, he shined on the offensive side of the ball on tuesday. The uncommitted sophomore faced a stiff challenge in multiple D1 arms, and faced it head on. He has a calm, confident demeanor to him at the plate, paired with a wide stance and quick hands that allowed him to collect 2 hits including a double for Bearden. There is plenty of upside to this ‘26 grad that will be one to watch as the season, and his HS career progresses.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-2, 208-pounds. Imposing athletic frame with wide shoulders and developed lower half.
Delivery: Fluid windeup with tall leg kick that alows him to get into his backside well.
Arm Action: RH. Action has a tight turn behind the body with great armspeed through the motion with with 3/4 release point.
FB: T85, 82-85 mph. Shows great feel for spin with the FB, creating a heavy pitch that jumps out of the hand. More velo to come as he matures. T2304, 2147 average rpm.
CB: 69-70 mph. CB is well spun with great HM, and VB to miss bat. T2006, 1988 average rpm.
SL: 76-76 mph. T1639, 1639 average rpm.
CH: 76-76 mph. Shows great ability to kill spin with great horizontal movement. Tunnels with FB well out of hand, with same armspeed. T1637, 1637 average rpm.
ATH: 7.23 runner in the 60. 1.69 and 5.05 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 32.10 max vertical.

Hit: RHH. Wide stance with twitchy movements pre pitch. Weight shift onto back leg pushes hands into a loaded position. Small stride forward before he lauches. Sinks into back leg well as he turns, finishing with weight primarily on that leg. He looks to drive the ball into either gap with loud contact to either. Wants to backspin balls but has a tendency to drive the barrel. Look for him to develop more barrel control and power as he develops. 69.8 mph bat speed with 23 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 86.6 mph. 308' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-89 mph.
ATH: 7.23 runner in the 60. 1.69 and 5.05 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 32.10 max vertical.
