Atkinson has added lean muscle mass to his already athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. After posting a 7.08 60-time on a slower surface, the right-handed hitter squared it up during BP. The right-handed hitter pushes back smooth as he keeps his hands relaxed as he cocks the barrel up, dropping the knob and slotting the barrel in the zone after he lands in an athletic launch position. Generates solid bat speed (87 mph) with a short, efficient path, working with some lift through the zone with a high finish. Gap approach with projectable juice that should continue to add strength as he keeps filling out. Defensively, Atkinson has quick footwork that he uses to create momentum and carry on his throws across the infield with a top velocity of 84 mph.

Atkinson has a loose, athletic, quick twitch frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. The right-handed hitter starts from an athletic stance with good flex in his lower half and relaxed hands. Easy load back as he picks up his front leg and triggers his hands back. Slots the barrel early, then works on an uphill path with loose-quick hands and a high finish. Strong contact with leverage creates hard contact and an exit velocity of 80 mph. At shortstop, Atkinson has quick footwork, soft hands, good rhythm and timing through the catch. Quick exchange into a loose arm swing with accuracy at 84 mph.
