A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.

Gage Deutsch, Lockhart (TX), 2025 Positional Profile: SS/RHP Pitcher…developing stuff on mound. Solid delivery and arm action, arm speed will develop. Secondary must be firmed for future success. Position player…opportunities for development present. Will be solid position player in future. Body: 6-1, 172-pounds. Good build/frame for adding strength. Very projectable in future. Delivery: Solid delivery with nice use of lower 1/2. On line stride with good finish. Arm Action: RH. Full circle with some length to back, works well. TQ slot with good finish out front. Arm speed developing. FB: T85, 82-85 mph. Down plane with slight cut action at times. T2174, 2066 average rpm. CB: 74-75 mph. Feel for CB present showing short action. T2134, 2108 average rpm. SL: 77-77 mph. Slider has short action showing some depth. T2193, 2122 average rpm. CH: 79-80 mph. Change with fair deception, fade with some sink. Developing pitch. T1591, 1498 average rpm. ATH: 7.19 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.05 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Runs hard. 29.40 max vertical.

Position player…opportunities for development present. Will be solid position player in future. Body: 6-1, 172-pounds. Good build/frame for adding strength. Very projectable in future. Hit: RHH. Lands in solid position to hit after stride. Limited use of lower 1/2, shows linear movement to lower 1/2. Never gets fully engaged in movement, would like to see back foot drive forward more with direct path to pitcher. Hands/barrel start with slight barrel tip, short/late trigger movement causes timing issue. Would like to see barrel start in better position allowing for short swing. Hands work fine in swing, can improve controlling barrel in swing, slight barrel dump present. 67.8 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 84.7 mph. 334' max distance. Upside to bat/power combo by taking advantage of adjustment opportunities. Arm: RH. INF-80 mph. Arm works well with carry to throws. Defense: Fair actions. Can improve playing thru baseball when fielding, presently dead feet. Fields baseball deep at times, can improve fielding ball out front. Will be solid defender with adjustments. ATH: 7.19 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.05 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Runs hard. 29.40 max vertical.
