Texas commit. 6-foot-2, 175-pound, athletic, long-limbed frame. Threw three innings and played centerfield the rest of the scrimmage. Loose arm action with a fastball that ranged from 87-91 mph. Has a good feel for a curveball that he throws with tight rotation. In four at-bats he hit the ball hard to the pull side. Ran a 4.52-second home to first time.
10-14-2018: Touched 92 MPH with a plus slider at 86 MPH. A former big-time high school quarterback prospect, Fields is a plus-plus athlete with a quick, whippy arm, and he also went 2-for-2 in the batter’s box with a swing that looked much more confident than last season. (McComas)
