Pierce had an outstanding performance at the Houston Top Prospect Games. He began the day with a 6.62-second 60-yard dash and threw 90 mph across the infield. The right handed hitter starts from a neutral stance and has a short stride to get started. Simple, flat hand path with strength at contact. Gap approach, line drives during batting practice with some carry and backspin. Defensively has smooth footwork with an easy approach to the ball. Plays low with his hands in front and has solid glove skills and the ability to play on the run.
03.02.17 - Right-handed hitter with a solid frame for a middle infielder, Pierce has an easy, compact swing that could develop power as he builds more strength, but currently allows for consistent contact. In his first two at-bats he placed two balls into the shallow gaps of of the outfield and reached first base with relative speed. Pierce’s patience at the plate from the second spot in the order allowed him to find the right pitches to move runners around.
