Spent his freshman season at TCU where made three appearances covering 2.1 IP. He allowed no runs on one hit with two strikeouts. At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds he has a shorter, compact build and features a fastball that sits 90-92 with good arm side run from a high three-quarter slot. He complements his No. 1 with a tight slider thrown in the 82-84 mph range. Released from the same slot, he can bury it on the backfoot to righties. Banta also shows feel for a low-80s changeup.
5-foot-10, 200-pounds, throws with a long arm path, good natural rhythm in the delivery, there is some effort in there but showed feel for his body. Ran the fastball up to 87 on the day and paired with a small breaking ball with small slider/ cutter action at 79-80 mph as well as a CH with quality arm speed at 81 mph.
