Ian Brunson, Cameron Middle (TX), 2030
Positional Profile: C/2B Lean, projectable frame with some length and room to continue adding strength. Shows a solid foundation with developing physical upside. At the plate, hits from a balanced setup with a small knee tuck load. Hands work with rhythm into a solid hitting position, showing some quickness and feel for the barrel. Lower half works into a controlled launch, with continued development in allowing the back elbow to lead helping improve path and consistency. Power is developing and should continue to improve as strength and mechanics progress. Defensively, shows versatility with the ability to handle both infield and catching duties. On the dirt, moves well to the ball with the ability to break down and stay behind the play. Can continue to improve by securing the ball more consistently out front. Behind the plate, shows quick feet with a clean exchange and developing throwing ability. Maintaining direction through the front side will help improve carry and accuracy. Overall, young, athletic profile with a developing bat and defensive versatility, offering solid long term upside as strength and consistency improve.
Body: 5-8, 125-pounds. Tall and lean build with room to add strength. Some width to shoulders and back. Projects well physically.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup with a small knee tuck load. Hands work with rhythm into a solid hit position. Decent weigth shift in lower to launch. Hands start nicely to hit zone. Some quickness to hands and bat. Can improve path by allowing back elbow to lead hands into the hit zone.
Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 71.0 mph. 240' max distance. Projects to solid bat/power combo with maturity and adjustments.
Arm: RH. C-66 mph. INF-68 mph. Compact arm path with developing strength. Arm speed will firm. Accurate thrower.
Defense: 2.27-2.44 pop times. INF: Feet work. Breaks down to catch. Stays behind ball well. Catches ball deep at times. Field ball more out front. C: Quickness to feet with solid ball/glove exchange. Can keep front shoulder in line with target longer for better throw and carry.
ATH: 7.51 runner in the 60. Decent start. Good stride length. Can improve arm swing direction. Speed will increase.
