The 4th guy in the mix for the 5A runner-up Bengals this coming spring for a club that may be in contention for the #1 spot in the preseason state rankings! Strong would be in the rotation as a rising junior at ¾ of the teams in the state other than Brighton, due to the fact the Bengals return the entire 3 man weekly rotation from a 27-5 club that features all 3 rotation members as signed D1 next level arms. The Bengals are the only team in the state that can boast that accomplishment! Strong has the prototype next level frame at 6-2 190 and features a well prop athletic build with a strong lower ½ to generate future FB velocity. There is more to tap into with this kid and will point out those keys to success…The delivery shows balance with rhythm and timing with a high kick to delivery. The hands separate over the rubber, giving him a base to land on time, which allows the arm to catch up properly. The HTQ slot is EZ through release and exits the hand clean, although the key to unlock his further potential is better ext out front into a flat back at finish. Currently at release, he tends to recoil the upper ½ back, which creates a standup finish, which cuts the finish to the delivery off at the end. Does have the makings of a 90 mph arm in short order as he can spin the ball at nearly 2,400 rpm’s, with a top end FB at 85. The CB 70-71 bends with TQ tilt and shows fair depth and flashes medium depth at times at a spin of 2,271 max. The CH 76-77 shows late fade and a bit more power at 2,000+ rpm’s, and just needs tinkering to get it below his current rate, to kill the spin and add more sink through the zone. Makings of a diamond in the rough and sleeper pick to take that next step forward of any arm in the class moving forward!…
