Kanipe is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a tall narrow slightly open stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back, has some rhythm. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill swing path, strong at contact with some extension through the ball, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, some real power present to his pull side, exit velocity was 98. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 82. Ran a 7.19 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, very short free quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 83-85, with some run when thrown to armside. Curveball had good armspeed and was 69-70 with late sharp 12/6 break to it.
